In 1973 a perfumery raw material, with pheromone like qualities, was synthesised and patented. Said to mimic some of the important properties of the famous perfumery ingredient Ambergris.

This molecule has an ever so slight woody tinge to it.

Popularly know as ISO E SUPER, this isolate is know to increase the performance of fragrances. Many humans are anosmic to this molecule and hence it is considered and also termed as a transparent fragrance.
